Re: West Ham vs Liverpool Fa cup 2006
Me and my pals had decent tickets but suddenly two scousers appeared in Liverpool shirts and bold as brass sat down amongst us.

After the 'get out of those seats you cunts' and 'you know that you've deprived two loyal West Ham their tickets' and them giving it the 'calm down, calm down, it's only a game mate' some right lump waded into them and gave them a good bashing before they could escape.

We looked around for somewhere else to sit before they could look at the CCTV and lo and behold there were some great seats at the front on the halfway line that some corporate cunts hadn't bothered with.

We shot down there and I was in a great (?) Position to see Marlon get smashed in the ankle right at the end of the game. Seriously, he could hardly walk but got up gamely and tried to stay on. His ankle actually looked broken.

That's why I always defend him about missing the chance at the end of the match. He was in the eighteen yard box when the rest of us would have been in the ambulance.

Feckin Scaloni, all he had to do was NOTHING... just slide aside and let the throw go out for a goal kick. We would've taken forever with the kick and the final whistle would have gone with the ball still in the air...

I have seen the game plenty of times... just glad we gave it a right go and didn't just fold and embarrass ourself like Wall did... travelling down on the train on the Friday we all admitted we'd just like a goal scored so we could celebrate... don't think any of us thought we would beat them... to go toe to toe with the Champs league winners in the biggest cup comp' in the world I can live with that... on top of that it's probably the greatest FA cup final since Matthews long shorts in the 50's ... proper proud and always will be

Reina was shit all game and then finger tipped Reo-Cokers header onto the inside of the post right at the end.

Didn't realise until a few days later.

Theres something very cathartic on hearing the experiences of others. The empty feeling of total numbness will always be with me. Five hour drive home and not a single word was spoken, literally.

With regards to importance, we can only speculate about where we'd now be had we lost to Blackpool in the PO Final, but FA Cup Finals are always special to a club like ours as they're the only realistic chance of winning anything.

Playing in the Europe League is great, and this match tonight is a testament to the progress the club has made in such a short length of time. Just imagine what we could do with an owner with ambition.

GERRARD!

Dont think it'll ever be beaten for cruelty in a football game

The worst bit for me was when Harewood was too crippled by injury to slot home our last chance for a winner, a chance he'd normally put away in his sleep.

Can't actually remember the incident where he got injured, but have the feeling it was a clear foul.

Re: West Ham vs Liverpool Fa cup 2006
I think that I was just as dejected at the playoff final against Crystal Palace as I was about the FA Cup final.

I remember throwing my expensive program into the river with all the others, getting back to the new car my dad had let me borrow and seeing that it had had a shopping trolley smashed into it because there was a little bear in an England kit on the back window. Welsh cunts.

I dreaded facing my old man as the car was literally a week old and he had a temper on him. He was also six foot three and about twenty stone. I'd seen him do not very nice things to people.

'fuck it son, it's only a car' he said. I wanted to cuddle him but of course in my family doing something like that would be met with 'fucking get off me you poof'.

I don't think we'd have been too fucked, Mad Dog.

4 of our highest Premier League wage earners (Repka, Hutchison, Lomas and Dailly)were already on their way out due to contracts expiring, and the rest of the team were made up from Championship players pretty much.

It would have been a small rebuild, but I don't think we would have been fucked for years.

We were "only" £30m in debt then. We're now over 4 times that amount in debt!

Play off final was biggest. If we'd have lost that we'd have been fucked for years.

The FA Cup final in 2006 will be the biggest game I've seen us play until our next cup final.

And I'm still haunted by the 4min on the board and then watching in slow motion as he hit it. The the shocked silence as we all went for a piss at the end of the 90mins. Fucking Gerrard.

Re: West Ham vs Liverpool Fa cup 2006
Had that been a dull and boring 1-0 to them, would it still be seen as being a massive game?

I think being within 20 seconds of beating the European champions gave the whole thing a status it may not have had if the actual game been different.

I dont know either way, just a different take on it.

Re: West Ham vs Liverpool Fa cup 2006
Play off finals are the easiest to get to for a club like West Ham….getting into the automatic promotion places are the difficult thing for us…..so everyone who thinks of the play off final as being the biggest thing are solely basing it on the financials.
